Writing Bibliographies

think Image11 WRITING BIBLIOGRAPHIES

You must write down the Author, Title, Publisher and Date of Publication of each source you have used.

[Image13 HINT: Write down the details of each book as you use it - you will not be able to remember what all you used once you have completed your project!]

Some useful pointers

1. Author:

a) Always put the surname first eg: Dahl, Roald ; Blyton, Enid

b) If there is no author, Title comes first eg: World Book Encyclopedia,

2. Title:
Never include “a” or “the” at the beginning of a title
eg: The iceberg hermit would be written as Iceberg hermit
A child’s book of values would be Child’s book of values

3. Final bibliography:

a) Your heading is Bibliography on ......................... (whatever your topic is)

eg: Bibliography on Birds of Prey

b) Your sources must be arranged in alphabetical order of the Authors’

surnames. (If there is no author, use the first word of the title.)

NB : ALL THE DIFFERENT SOURCES ARE SORTED INTO ALPHABETICAL ORDER TO FORM A SINGLE BIBLIOGRAPHY !
